About Us

Our background

Connected to Recover was founded in 2023 by Denesha Degraffenreid, a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist-Associate and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a deep commitment to mental health, healing, and hope. After witnessing how individuals and families struggled to access the right support for emotional and behavioral health challenges, she created Connected to Recover as a bridge — a space where people don’t just get referred; they feel seen, heard, and cared for.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, but offering services virtually as well, we are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges. We help them access the care they need and deserve — from education and awareness services to safe community connections and encouragement throughout the process.

Our causes

Mental Health Access and Equity, Substance Use Recovery Support, Advocacy for Frontline Providers, Community Education & Stigma, Navigation & Referral Services

Our involvement

At Connected to Recover, we believe that healing happens through collaboration. We are deeply committed to building meaningful partnerships with organizations, community leaders, and event organizers who share our passion for mental health, recovery, and social impact.

Whether it’s a community wellness fair, a professional development workshop, or a panel on mental health equity — we show up with purpose, compassion, and resources.
